Rockland County is located in the lower Hudson Valley, just North of the New Jersey border. It is located 15 miles Northwest of New York City, on the West side of the Hudson River.
The close proximity to New York City make Rockland County a viable place to live for commuters. Housing prices in the county are relatively cheaper than Westchester County and Bergen County NJ. There are some excellent school districts for students. Most of the towns are also very safe, with some frequently being nominated as the "Best town to live in" and "Safest Town to live in" by national magazines.
Rockland County offers suburban living among beautiful parklands. Approximately 30% of the county is devoted to parks, including the popular state parks like Bear Mountain State Park, Harriman State Park, and the Nyack Beach State Park along the Hudson River.
In addition to nature, the county also offers convenient shopping and entertainment. You will find lots of shopping around the Palisades Mall area in West Nyack and Nanuet, and charming river towns in Nyack and Piermont.
