Larchmont is a village located within the Town of Mamaroneck. It is a safe and upscale neighborhood on the Long Island Sound, making it a very desirable place to live, with beautiful views of the harbor. In 2005, Money Magazine ranked Larchmont 11th in their 100 best places to live survey.
Located half an hour from New York City, Larchmont offers close knit, small town living with urban sophistication. Its biggest draw is the shore and beach. You can apply to enjoy the sandy beach at the Larchmont Manor Park, available only to Larchmont residents. The Larchmont Manor Park along the waterfront is accessible to the public. It is about 12 1/2 acres in area, and extends around 5000 feet along the shore line. It is a beautiful place for strolling and to enjoy the view.
Larchmont and the town of Mamaroneck run an active recreation department. Some of the town activities include the Flint Park Summer Concert series, Larchmont Arts Festival, Bike "Tour de Larchmont", and more. There is a charming shopping area in Larchmont with boutiques, antique stores, and dining. For new comers, the Larchmont Newcomers Club hosts events to welcome those who are new to town.
There are some gorgeous homes in Larchmont. Along the waterfront, you will find multi-million dollar homes with water views and access. Most homes in the village are older tudors, colonials and ranches on a small lot. People usually move to Larchmont for its close knit feel and walkability, and not for the size of the yard. You will also find some co-op and apartment buildings in Larchmont.
Larchmont has a Metro North station at its downtown district. The New Haven line train takes about 35 minutes to go to Grand Central Station during peak hours, and also around 35 minutes to Stamford CT. When driving, Larchmont has easy access to I-95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway.
