Rye Brook is a village within the Town of Rye (not to be confused with the City of Rye, which is along the Long Island Sound). The Town of Rye includes the Village of Rye Brook, Port Chester, and part of Rye Neck. The village is in between the town of Harrison and Greenwich Connecticut.
The village is the newest municipality in Westchester, incorporated on July 7, 1982. Some of the facilities are still shared with the Town of Rye, for example Crawford Park, Rye Town Park, and Oakland Beach. The village has a total of 6 parks, mostly with sports fields and playgrounds. There are two country clubs in Rye Brook.
Compared to the surrounding towns, Rye Brook has more of a country feel to it. There is no central downtown in Rye Brook: no shops, and no train station. For shopping, most of the shops are at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center, which has a collection of independently owned shops. There are plenty of shopping and dining options in nearby Port Chester.
Rye Brook is located approximately 30 miles away from midtown Manhattan. There is no Metro North station in town, so you will have to take the train from the nearby Rye or Port Chester station, which takes around 40 minutes. Rye Brook has convenient access to interstate 95 and 287.
Rye Brook is served by two school systems: the Blind Brook Public Schools and the Port Chester School District.
Please visit our Westchester School Districts page to find out more about all the school districts in the county.
69% of the homes in Rye Brook are detached single family homes, and 9.6% are attached single family homes. 14.3% of the properties are multi-family homes, mostly at the part closer to the Port Chester border.
17.2% of the homes were built before 1940, and 52.3% were built between 1950-1970. Around 82.7% of the homes are owner occupied.
