If you are commuting to NYC from the the West side of the Hudson: Rockland, Orange, or Ulster Counties, there is a combination of rail, bus, and ferries that will bring you across the river into New York City.
The Port Jervis Line of Metro North towards New York City starts at Port Jervis, Orange County. Its last stop in New York is Suffern before connecting to Mahwah New Jersey and NJ Transit.
The Pascack Valley Line starts at Spring Valley in Rockland County, and only has three stops in New York State before reaching New Jersey. Some Rockland County residents will choose to drive to the stations in New Jersey based on the train schedule and parking availability.
Both Lines will reach Secaucus Junction and Hoboken. You can then decide to reach New York City either by rail to Penn station or PATH, or ferry.

The Hudson Link is a commuter bus system that connects Westchester and Rockland County. It provides service between Suffern, Airmont, Spring Valley, Nanuet, Palisades Center, Central Nyack, Nyack, and South Nyack in Rockland; and Tarrytown and White Plains in Westchester County.
By taking the Tappan Zee Express, you can avoid the hassle of driving across the Hudson River yourself. Once you arrive at Tarrytown or White Plains, you can connect to the Metro North train and go into the city. Visit our "Commuter Guide East" for more Metro North information.

Coach USA runs commuter routes from Rockland County and Orange County to Port Authority in New York. Some of the buses stop at the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, where you can transfer to the subway or other buses. Some buses have various bus stops throughout midtown.
