Things to do in Hudson Valley in the Spring

Hudson Valley Festivals

There are so many events going on that we will first list the festivals happening this weekend in Westchester:

The entire City of Yonkers is hosting the Yonkers Arts Weekend. The city wide celebration takes place all over Yonkers, including the Untermyer Garden, Yoho Arts Studios, the Yonkers waterfront, and the Hudson River Museum, throughout the weekend from May 1-3. Activities include a color run, art workshops, music and dance performances, food trucks, and children activities. Of course, there are murals and pop up art galleries on display. Click here to view a complete event schedule.

Heading a little North, the bi-annual Crafts at Lyndhurst is being held this weekend. 300 artists will fill the grounds of the Neo-Gothic Lyndhurst estate in Tarrytown, offering one-of-a-kind gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduation and weddings throughout the weekend, May 1-3.

If you are looking for an enchanting way to spend your spring evening, you can visit the Lightscapes at Van Cortlandt Manor throughout May. It is from the same creators of the popular Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze in the fall. You will walk through a garden display with state-of-the-art illumination, in addition to sound and sculptures amidst the Van Cortlandt Manor's nature landscape.

On Sunday, there are two fun outdoor festivals in Westchester. The College of New Rochelle will be hosting the 43rd Annual Strawberry Festival on Sunday, May 3, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Maura Lawn at the Main Campus, 29 Castle Place in New Rochelle. It will be a fun-filled day of outdoor activities, music, entertainment, and strawberry treats.

Or you can head to White Plains and enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms and Japanese festivities and performances at the White Plains Cherry Blossom Festival. It will be held at Turnure Park.

Now onto the rest of the Hudson Valley, it is a festive weekend up at Dutchess County. Throughout the next three weekends, the 2015 Hudson Valley Fair will be held in Fishkill, NY at Dutchess Stadium. The many activities include a huge carnival midway, delicious food, games, and live entertainment and shows including The World Famous Fearless Flores Thrill Show (as seen on America's Got Talent), Lance Gifford’s Magic & Illusion Show, Monkeys Riding Dogs, a full petting zoo and much more!

Further up in Rhinebeck, you will find the annual Rhinebeck Car Show at the Dutchess Fairgrounds. The show is hosted by the Hudson River Valley Association of Antique Autos, and is one of the largest classic car shows in the Northeast.

Nearby the car show, the Hudson Valley Garden Association will host its 3rd annual fundraising event, Hudson Valley Garden Fair, Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, 10am-3pm at Montgomery Place in Red Hook.
