The center is open each day from dawn to dusk if you simply want to take your kids for a walk, to see the birds, and watch the seasons change. It also offers special fun programs for just about every age group.

There are many programs that run all year. In February, they celebrated winter with a Pancake Breakfast & Maple Sugaring event, showing tots & adults how to tap trees the way people have done for years.

Now that nicer weather is coming, don't miss out all the programs in March and April. Their spring programs will have you stepping into this sunny season with a big smile on your face. There's something for everyone, whether you want to go to a program with your best friend, or if you want to take the family.

Daddy & Me Animal Show

Dads are invited to drop-in with their children to enjoy seeing the animals together. $10 for family member $15 for family non-members.

March 14th 10 a.m.

Start Your Own Tomatoes

Discover the many types of tomatoes - not just the one or two you see at the local nursery. Try growing a unique type this year. See a variety of tomatoes and get all of your questions answered to begin the growing season! $7 for members and $10 for non-members.

March 18th 4 - 5:30 p.m.

Animal Care Training

For this program you must be a minimum of 14 years of age. Learn about animal care and volunteering for the FRNC. Please register in advance. No experience is needed. Contact jenicasinelli@ryenaturecenter.org for more information and to register.

Spring Equinox Walk

Spring is here! A FRNC naturalist will lead this walk through the forest, showing signs that spring is starting to appear in nature. $5 for members and $8 for non-members.

Ecology Club for Families with Special Needs

Children with special needs accompanied by a family member can enjoy hikes, science and fun programs. Contact marygillick@ryenaturecenter.org for more information.

Summer and Spring Vacation Camps at the Rye Nature Center

In addition to these programs, the Rye Nature Center is a terrific choice if your child is celebrating a birthday and you’d like to have a party with memorable activities. Your child can have a party that features visits with the animals, including Popcorn the Snake, or a naturalist-led hike to search for critters on the center’s property. Or hold a treasure hunt party, learning to read a map and use a compass.
