The town of Lagrange is a suburb around 10 minute East of Poughkeepsie. Lagrange is pretty convenient in term of basic necessities. There are a good number of food options, gyms, and grocery stores. The mall and big box shopping are 10 minutes away on Route 9. For fun, there is the Overlook Drive-in movie and the Overlook golf center.

There are great local parks in the town of Lagrange, offering terrific fields for organized sports, and also for fishing and hiking. Overlook Park has a designated off-leash dog park area for those with dogs. In the summer, residents can go swimming at Freedom Lake in Freedom Park. Freedom Park also holds the summer camp and community day for the town. The James Baird State Park offers hiking, picnicking, tennis courts, and a golf course.

Lagrange Commute

The Taconic State Parkway, which runs North to South through New York State, passes through Lagrange. Going South, New York City is around 75 miles and under two hours' drive away. Within Dutchess County, Route 55 is an East-West road where one can travel from Lagrange to Poughkeepsie.

The closest train station from Lagrange is the Poughkeepsie station. Poughkeepsie is the last stop on the Metro North Hudson Line, which will bring you to Grand Central Station in New York City in around 1 hour and 40 minutes.
