Pleasant Valley NY, located in a rural-suburban setting, is comprised of three hamlets: Pleasant Valley, Salt Point, and Washington Hollow. It is in the middle of Dutchess County, ten minutes from Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park.
Pleasant Valley has a walkable Main Street in the heart of town, where you can walk from the library to a pharmacy and grocery store within a mile. The Pleasant Valley Department Store - one of the last remaining independently owned department stores in the region, is also on the Main Street.

A few blocks over the Main Street, and you will be in the countryside. Nearby there is the James Baird State Park, which at 590 acres, includes 7 miles of hiking trails, basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas, and a nature center. There is also a golf course with a club house and driving range at the park.
The major road in town is Route 44 (Main Street) that connects the town to Poughkeepsie in ten minutes. Going in the opposite direction towards the Northeast, Route 44 intersects with the Taconic State Parkway.
The closest train station from Pleasant Valley is the Poughkeepsie station. Travelling from Poughkeepsie Station to Grand Central Station in New York City takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes.
