The setting of Union Vale is rural and picturesque, and a little isolated. There are no major retailers, gyms, or hospitals in the area. Union Vale is perfect for those who are looking for a quiet lifestyle surrounded by farms and hills.

Grocery shopping and basic amenities can be found in the nearby Lagrange or Hopewell Junction. Major stores are in Poughkeepsie, which is around 25 minutes away.

Union Vale has two town parks, Tymor Park and Frederick E. Godfrey Memorial Park. Tymor Park is nearly 500 acres and is the largest Municipal park in the State of New York. The park offers playing fields, a swimming pook, fishing pond, and twelve miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. 

The recreation department is pretty active and offers many programs for children and adults, and hosts several events throughout the year, including Community Day, Oktoberfest, and Easter Egg Hunt.

Union Vale Commute

Union Vale is on the East side of the Taconic State Parkway. Poughkeepsie is around 15 miles West via Route 55. Midtown Manhattan is around 75 miles away, and requires an hour and a half drive without traffic.

Union Vale Schools

Most of the students in Union Vale go to schools in the Arlington School District. Both Vail Farm Elementary School and Union Vale Middle School are in town and were newly built in 2004, part of an expansion plan for the Arlington School District.

Some of the students in Union Vale attend schools in the Millbrook School District.
