Newburgh is a city in Orange County, New York. Surrounding the city is the town of Newburgh, which is more suburban. Located on the Western side of the Hudson River, Newburgh is at a beautiful setting with a great waterfront, with views overlooking the Hudson Highlands the Mount Beacon across the river.
Just outside the city limits, the town of Newburgh does not suffer from the high crimes associated with the city. The town is actually quite safe and quiet, with convenient access to all the city has to offer. There are shopping centers and big box stores along the Route 300.
For some relaxing, Chadwick Lake park is a popular park that offers a lake for boating and fishing, basketball courts, roller skating rink, playgrounds, and three picnic shelters.
Newburgh is located approximately 60 miles North of New York City, across the Hudson River. It is conveniently located at the junction of I-84 and I-87, providing easy North-to-South and East-to-West access to the rest of New York. Driving to New York City (South) and Albany (North) takes around 90 minutes.
The easiest way to commute to New York City by public transportation is by the Metro North station in Beacon. You can either drive there from the Newburgh-Beacon bridge which takes around 10 minutes. There is also a ferry the travels between Newburgh and Beacon.
