The town of Blooming Grove is in the central part of Orange County, Southwest of the City of Newburgh. The town includes the Villages of South Blooming Grove and Washingtonville. It provides a blend of suburban, small village, and rural living among farmlands.
Blooming Grove is a picturesque place with mountains and lakes. There are creeks running along the villages. You can find homes with water views around the Beaver Dam Lake and Tomahawk Lake. You can enjoy mountain and valley views and outdoor activities at Schunemunk Mountain, the tallest mountain in the county.
There is a small historic village area in Washingtonville with some shops and the historic Moffat Library. The Brotherhood Winery, close to the village, is the oldest continuously operating winery in the US. It first opened in 1839.
Washingtonville is located about 60 miles North of New York City. The drive is around an hour and a half. You can also drive to the Salisbury-Mills Cornwall train station on NJ Transit, which takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to Hoboken NJ.
Route 17 passes through the Southern part of the town. For nearby towns, Newburgh is around 11 miles and 25 minutes East. South of Washingtonville is the Woodbury and Monroe area, and with more shopping and dining choices.
