The Village of Mount Kisco in Northern Westchester offers something for everyone. There are plenty of different styles of homes for sale in Mount Kisco. Condos and coops, stately turn-of-the-century homes, and outside the village limit, more spacious homes and sprawling estate. There are also several apartment complexes for rentals. Compared to Southern Westchester, you will get more home for your money.
If you have to commute to the city for work, the metro north train takes around an hour from Mount Kisco, and runs frequently during rush hour. With lots of housing choices within walking distance to to the train station, you can eliminate the possible parking problems.
Mount Kisco is the commercial hub of Northern Westchester. It is like a mini urban center with both local and chain stores, restaurants, and jobs at its commercial buildings and the Northern Westchester Hospital. Not only can you buy a home walkable to the train station, you may even be able to walk to Target. A quick drive away, and you will be in the countryside and the woods.
We decided to look at detached, single family homes for sale in Mount Kisco. We came across this colonial 0.6 miles from the train station, and half a block from Main Street and all its restaurants, and the Mount Kisco elementary school.
The home is not large, at 1300 square feet, and the yard is only 0.11 acres. But the front porch and deck looks inviting, and the home is in move in condition, with beautiful renovated kitchen and bathrooms. And the property tax is only $6,195? Sometimes small is sweet. Next, we found a townhouse for sale in Mount Kisco at the popular Guard Hill Manor development. It is a little further from the village, around 1 mile away from the train station, making it a 15 minute walk. The development has 212 townhouses that were built in 1987. Community amenities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court and a small children’s “tot-lot”.
Like most of the townhouses in the development, this home has 2 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, a deck, basement, a finished basement and a one car garage. The home is listed at $499,000 and the taxes is $10,542 a year. What do you think?
