Mount Kisco is a town/village that is often considered the hub of Northern Westchester, New York. It is located around 36 miles North of New York City, in between the towns of Bedford and Armonk. Mount Kisco offers something for everyone. It has good shopping options, where residents from the nearby towns like Armonk, Katonah, Chappaqua, etc often go to.
Its village offerings high end boutiques, local businesses, a range of trendy to ethnic restaurants. It also has chain stores like Target, the Gap, Victoria's Secret, etc. However, the setting is more like a village instead of suburban strip mall. There is a small movie theater on West Main Street.
A popular stop for kids and adults is the Grand Prix New York, an indoor entertainment center that offers, go-cart, bowling, arcade, etc. The Northern Westchester hospital is also located in town.
You will find easy access to the outdoors in Mount Kisco. The Leonard Park, run by the village, offers swimming in the summer, sports fields and playgrounds, and a disc golf course. In the winter, you can go ice skating at the park. The town is also home to the Westmoreland Sanctuary and the Butler Sanctuary, where you can hike and observe wildlife.
Mount Kisco is about 36 miles North of New York City. There is a Metro North railroad station, which commutes to Grand Central Station in around one hour.
The Saw Mill Parkway passes by the town, which you can take to drive to New York City also in around one hour. White Plains, the county seat of Westchester, is around 16 miles, or 25 minutes drive away.
Students in Mount Kisco go to schools at the Bedford School District. The school district also covers part of the communities of Bedford, Pound Ridge, New Castle, and North Castle.
