The store's offerings range from chubby board books that tots can chew on, all the way up to YA (young adult books). Not only will you find a lovely variety of the classics and new children’s books to enjoy, but you will find lovely staff who are very knowledgeable and helpful. Their enthusiasm about children and books definitely shows.

So if you are shopping for your nephew who is 5 and really loves dinosaurs, but already have all the latest dinosaur books? Feel free to ask the Voracious Reader's staff, and they most likely will be able to help you find the next dino-themed item that will make him smile!

It is a treasure nowadays to have an independent bookstore locally. So don’t miss the opportunity to attend some of the Voracious Reader’s bookstore events. You and your family will have the chance to meet children’s book authors. There are also age-specific events and activities.

Voracious Reader's Activities and Events:

  • On Fridays, young children can enjoy stories with Franklin, the store’s beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Research has shown that children who read with dogs develop more confidence about reading and this also encourages a love of books (and probably a love of dogs as well!).
  • Middle grade and Young Adult readers have their own special book review clubs. Reservations are required and they receive advance review copies – of books that have not been published yet.
  • There are several story times during the week for children aging from infant to 6 years old. In the summer, there is a pajama story time that makes sleep time more fun with stories, songs, and snacks.
  • The bookstore will be celebrating its 8th birthday on March 21!  You can bring your children to go celebrate! Cake and candles will be lit at 3pm.

Some events and activities are ongoing, and others are “just once” and may require a reservation. You can find out more information about their Events here:

Voracious Reader Personalized Shopping Service:

Parents and grandparents will also appreciate their personalized shopping service. There is no fee for this service. Simply make the request that you would like help putting together a Gift Platter, or that you would like your child to join the Grandparent’s Club, and they would receive a hand selected book every month.

This is a wonderful way to connect with your child or grandchild and do an activity with them, even at a distance and also to help them to find books they like.
