Dutchess County is located a little over one hour from New York City and Albany, on the East side of the Hudson River. Major roads in the county include the interstate 84, which goes East to West and connects to New England , and the Taconic State Parkway, which travels North to South.

For residents who need to travel to New York City, there are Metro North train lines that have frequent trains to Grand Central Station, making Dutchess County a popular commuter area.
