A short 15-minute drive away is Harriman Commons, the Woodbury Center, with grocery stores and big box stores like Super Walmart, Target and Home Depot, and the Woodbury Commons, a large shopping outlet. 

Residents at Windridge have lots of recreation opportunities. They can take walks or bike rides at the nearby Heritage Trails, a 12-mile trail that travels through Chester to Monroe and Goshen. A 10 minute drive away is Greenwood lake, where you can enjoy boating. A short 5 minute away and you can hike the Appalachian Trail. And Mount Peter is only a 15 minute drive away, where you can ski in the winter.

There are lots of parks in the area for camping and other outdoor activities at the nearby Harriman State Park, Sterling Forest, and Schunnemunk Mountain State Park. The area also offers great farms and wineries of the Hudson Valley, where you can pick apples, and enjoy the numerous festivals and live music the farms and wineries often host weekly.

New York City is around 50 miles away, and the drive takes a little over an hour, depending on traffic. For commuters, there are great public transportation options available for commuting to New York City. There are commuter buses to Port Authority and midtown Manhattan. For those who would prefer to take the train, the Metro-North Harriman train station is a 15-minute drive away.
