There are lots of parks in the area, and hiking and other outdoor activities at the nearby Harriman State Park and Schunnemunk Mountain State Park.

New York City is around 55 miles away, and the drive takes a little over an hour, depending on traffic. For commuters, there are great public transportation options available for commuting to New York City. The commuter bus that reaches Port Authority and midtown has a stop just outside the complex. There are other park and ride for the Short Line Bus just around the corner. For those who would prefer to take the train, the Metro-North Harriman train station is a 15-minute drive away. 

The Whispering Hills Townhome community is just 2 minutes from Route 17, which connects to the New York Thruway and I-84.
