The Village of Babylon is a quaint walkable village, with plenty of dining choices and boutique shops, and a convenient LIRR train stop. The local Argyle Theater at the village provides a great shows for adults and children. The popular Argyle Park has a beautiful lake prefect for a stroll around the lake, dog walking fishing. The park also has a playground for children, and hosts community events.
The most captivating part of Babylon though is its location by the water. There are plenty of canals towards the Great South Bay, along with lakes, creeks and marinas in town. There is a spring-fed lake at Belmont Lake State Park, and the ocean beaches at Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island is only a short drive away.
Babylon is also a very convenient town, with plenty of shopping centers around town. The Tangers Outlets is around 20 minutes away in Deer Park. For golf lovers, the Town of Babylon is home to an 18 hole, par 3 golf course located between Cedar Beach and Overlook Beach on Ocean Parkway. There are also other private golf courses nearby.
There is a LIRR station at the Babylon Village, which is along the Montauk branch and the last stop of the Babylon line of the Long Island Rail Road. The train ride is a little over one hour on average. Babylon is about 33 miles from Midtown Manhattan via the Southern State Parkway, or about an hour and a half in heavy traffic. Most of the traffic to other towns on Long Island are through the Southern State Parkway and Sunrise Highway.
For the water lovers, there are plenty of bungalows, expanded capes and colonial homes along the canals in Babylon. Many of the homes will offer a boat slip in their own backyard.
