Valley Cottage is a hamlet located in the town of Clarkstown. It is a popular suburb due to its convenient location from Manhattan and to shopping and dining. 

Within a short drive, residents in Valley Cottage can visit downtown Nyack and all its shopping, dining, and cultural offerings. Valley Cottage is also just a short drive away from the Palisades Mall in Nanuet, one of the largest on the East Coast. At the mall and its immediate surrounding area, you will most certainly find everything you need.

Valley Cottage is a beautiful suburb that is close to lakes and mountains, perfect for people who enjoy lake activities or hiking and biking. There is the popular Rockland Lake State Park, which has a lake for boating and fishing, a trail around the lake, a large swimming pool with spray garden, picnic areas, and a public golf course. Congers Lake Memorial Park is also nearby, and there are actually four lakes in the immediate area, several large parks, and the Hudson River.

Valley Cottage is located around 32 miles North of New York City, West of Nyack. To travel to New York City, you can cross the Hudson River on the Tappan Zee Bridge. Without traffic, the drive would take as little as 50 minutes.

For public transportation, there are buses that goes from the Palisades Mall to Manhattan. Depending on where they are going to, some people will drive South to New Jersey to take the train or Ferry over to Manhattan. Some may choose to cross the bridge over to Tarrytown, and take the Metro North train from there.
