The village of Croton-on-Hudson is located in Northern Westchester County, along the Hudson River. The village is located in the town of Cortlandt, New York, to the North of Ossining, and approximately 33 miles North of New York City.
There is a large variety of homes to choose from in Croton, including large homes with river views, to townhouses and condos. Some residents enjoy the homes that are more walkable. Some properties are walkable to the Upper Village commercial area, library and school and to the Croton Landing Park.
People who live in Croton are attracted by its wonderful parks and scenery. Croton has eight miles of riverfront, part of which is the Croton Point Park, which hosts a range of festivals. There are community festivals like the Summerfest and Riverday, which gives the village a sense of community.
The Silver Lake Beach there allows for swimming in the summer. There is a total 186 acres of nature preserves in the village. Nearby at the Teatown Lake Reservation and the Croton Dam park, which are beautiful and offers hiking opportunities.
The Van Cortlandt Manor, a National Historic Landmark located in Paradise Island Park, is best known for its Pumpkin Blaze show every fall, where you will find more than 5000 illuminated, hand crafted jack o'lanterns in elaborate displays. It is a popular event that is sold out weeks in advance every year.
The Croton Harmon Metro North station is convenient for those commuting to Grand Central Station. Since it is a hub, it has express and more frequent trains from its station, and the express trains take a little over 46 minutes. The village is also convenient to Routes 9 and 9A, and the Taconic State Parkway.
A majority of the students in Croton attend the Croton-Harmon School District. Some go to the Hendrick Hudson School District.
