Clarkstown is one of five towns in Rockland County, New York.  It includes the hamlets of Bardonia, Central Nyack, Congers, Nanuet, New City, Rockland Lake, Valley Cottage, West Nyack, all of the Village of Upper Nyack, and portions of the Villages of Nyack and Spring Valley.

Clarkstown is mostly a suburban area. What makes it attractive is its convenient location to many jobs in New York City and New Jersey. West Nayck and Nanuet are home to the Palisades Mall and the Shops at Nanuet. They are the central shopping destination for the county, and also offers a lot of dining and movies options.

In fact, Clarkstown was often named the "Best Small City" to live in America by CNNMoney.com. It was ranked 71st in 2008, 41st in 2010, 35th in 2012, and 7th in 2014.
