Harrison is a town located approximately 22 miles North of New York City. Driving through Harrison, you will find a country, woodsy setting. Along the road you will mostly see large homes with pristine lawns, tennis courts, and swimming pools.
In the Northern part of town are the hamlet of Purchase and West Harrison. It is a more spacious area, and homes are on even larger lots and further apart. While you will mostly find older tudors and colonials in Harrison, there are some newer built homes in Purchase. There are also some condo and coop buildings in Harrison.
Harrison is home to the Platnium mile, an area in Purchase where many large corporations have offices. That includes Morgan Stanley, PepsiCo, and Mastercard. Some of these corporate compounds are a sight in its own. For example, the PepsiCo headquarters is located on 144 acres, with a garden designed by the British gardner Russell Page, and holds 45 contemporary sculptures at its Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens. Other beautiful campuses can be found at the local colleges. Harrison is home to Manhattanville College and SUNY Purchase. With all the large corporations located in Harrison, it helps lowers the property taxes for Harrison.
There are many country clubs and parks in Harrison. The Saxon Woods Park is a 700-acre property with the largest swimming pool in Westchester, playground, and an 18-hole golf course and miniature golf course. Another wonderful park to enjoy the outdoors is the Silver Lake Preserve, where you will find hiking trails among streams and woodlands. For golfing and country clubs, you will find the Westchester County Club, Old Oaks Country Club, Blink Brook Club to name a few.
Harrison is located around 22 miles from Manhattan. The train from Harrison Metro North station to Grand Central takes around 40 minutes. I-95, the Cross Westchester Expressway, and the Hutchinson River Parkway all pass through the town of Harrison, providing easy access to other parts of Westcheser and to New England. Harrison is also home to the Westchester Airport.
