Located approximately 18 miles Northeast of midtown Manhattan, Pelham is the first town in Westchester along the Long Island Sound. Pelham is also Westchester's smallest town. Residents are drawn to the convenient commute to New York City, and the strong sense of community in this tight-knit town.
The town of Pelham consists of two villages, Pelham and Pelham Manor. The two villages have separate services, but some services, namely the schools and recreation programs, have been combined to reduce costs.
Pelham is North of the Pelham Manor. There are some differences between the two villages. The houses in the Pelham Village are usually smaller, and are within two miles to the train station and its walkable business district. Pelham Manor generally has larger and more expensive homes, and borders the Long Island Sound waterfront.
Located just North of the Bronx border, it is very convenient to commute to New York City from Mount Vernon. There are several Metro North stations in or close to Mount Vernon, including: Mount Vernon West and Fleetwood on the Harlem Line, and Mount Vernon East station on the New Haven Line. The ride can take as little as 24 minutes.
