Pound Ridge is probably the town with the most open space in Westchester. Located on the Eastern part of Westchester, the town is bordered by New Canaan CT to the East, Stamford CT to the South. The towns of Bedford and Lewisboro are on the North and West side of the town.
Pound Ridge is a small yet active community that has lively activities. Town activities include the annual Lobster Festival, Harvest Festival, Arts & Crafts Festival, 4th of July Celebration, movies and concerts in the park, etc. There is a Pound Ridge newcomers club to welcome people moving into the community.
Most of the local shopping and dining is in Scotts Corners, which has interesting antique shops, quaint shopping and quality dining. For more shopping choices, people go to Mount Kisco or other nearby towns in Westchester or crossing state line to Connecticut.
People choose to live in Pound Ridge to enjoy its open space. The town park has a pool for the summer, and also sports fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the largest park in Westchester County, offers 4700 acres of hiking, ski trails, etc.
Due to its beauty and still close proximity to New York City, Pound Ridge has always been attractive to celebrity artists over the years. Pound Ridge residents have included celebrities like actor Richard Gere, newscaster Tom Brokaw and the Bush White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. The town is decidedly upscale, with a media household income more than three times the average for New York State.
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
Manhattan is approximately 48 miles from Pound Ridge. Residents can take the Metro-North Railroad from Mount Kisco and Bedford Hills. Mount Kisco and Bedford Hills stations are around a 20 minute drive away, and the ride during non-peak hours is approximately 60 minutes.
Pound Ridge has access to the major roads 684 via a 10-20 minute drive on local roads. Driving to Manhattan takes approximately one hour, depending on traffic.
Pound Ridge is served by two school districts. The Northern park of the town belongs to the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, and the middle and Southern part of the town are part of the Bedford School District. Both school districts have a great reputation.

Homes in the town are spread out because the zoning of no properties under 1 acres. In fact, most homes are on much more land, in the middle of the woods, which provides the owners with the privacy they enjoy. 97.1% of the homes in Pound Ridge are single family homes, and 84.5% are owner occupied.
In 2014, there were 70 single family homes sold according to the Hudson Gateway MLS. The median sales price was $847,500 and the average days on market was 149 days.
