Tuckahoe is a village within the Town of Eastchester, just 20 miles North of New York City. Although only 0.6 square mile in size, Tuckahoe has its distinct qualities compared to its neighbors: it is not as urban as Yonkers to the West, and its downtown is more functional compared to being upscale, like Bronxville, 2 miles to its South.
Due to its small size, almost everything is walkable in the village. There is a downtown area with small, local shops and restaurants. The library and community center is located on the main street. A farmer's market is held in Depot Square in the summer, and the village organizes annual Columbus Day and July 4th festivities to bring together the community.
Within Tuckahoe, you will find the Parkway Oval, a 14-acre park along the Bronx River. There are sports fields and playground. You also have access to the South County Trail, a trail for walks and biking along the river.
Another popular town recreation is the Lake Isle Country Club in the town of Eastchester, which is open for membership to Tuckahoe residents. The country club provides swimming pools, tennis courts, and a golf course.
Tuckahoe is conveniently located just 30 minutes North of New York City, making it a popular choice for commuters. Tuckahoe provides a variety of housing choices of residents. 30% of the homes in Tuckahoe are detached single family homes. Closer to the train stations, streets are hilly, and the homes are situated on smaller lots. As you go farther from downtown, you will find more spacious, beautifully maintained homes.
