Nanuet Overview 

Nanuet is a hamlet located in Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York. It is a pleasant suburb that has good schools, convenient access to transportation, shopping and the outdoors. CNN Money ranked Nanuet 76 on its annual "100 Best Places to Live" list in 2011. Nanuet was also ranked 24th on CNN Money's annual "100 Best Places to Live" list in 2007.

Nanuet is perhaps the shopping and transportation hub of Rockland County. Major highways like I-87 and the Palisades Interstate Parkway have entrances throughout Nanuet, and the local Route 59 cuts through town, and most stores you ever need are along Route 59.

Most national chain stores and restaurants can be found along Route 59. The Shops at Nanuet is a recently updated outdoor shopping center.The Palisades Mall, one of the largest mall in the country, is in Nanuet. It has lots of shopping and dining options, a Dave and Busters, and a movie theater.

Nanuet is more than just shopping though. Nanuet Lake Park, with a pool that is designed to look like a lake, is a popular spot for the summer. The park offers picnicking, sports fields, and swimming. A short drive away is Bear Mountain and the Palisades Parks for those who want to spend day/days hiking and camping. The Hudson River is only 15 minutes drive away for those enjoy being on the water.

Nanuet Commute

New York City is only 30 miles away from Nanuet, with train and bus public transportation options available for commuting. The hamlet has very convenient access to the New York Thruway and Palisades Parkway. 

Nanuet is a great location for commuters. There are commuter train stations at Nanuet or Spring Valley. There are  Coach commuter bus which has routes to Port Authority and mid town Manhattan. Many condos and townhome communities in Nanuet allow residents to walk to the train station or commuter bus stop. Some developments are also walkable to the Shops at Nanuet and other stores.

• Tudor Hill Condonimuiums, a small and affordable condo community in Nanuet, built in the early 1980s. Most of the condos are selling under $200,000. 
• Town Hill Condominiums, a garden style condo development that was built in 1980s. As of 2019, the condos are selling under $200,000.
• New Holland Village Condos, garden apartments built in several phases in the 1970s. They are either 1 or 2 bedroom condos on one floor. Development has a large pool and playground. As of 2019, 1 bedrooms are selling under $200,000 and 2 bedrooms are selling just over $200,000.
• Normandy Village Condos, garden apartments built in several phases in the 1960s. A newer phase of the complex is only for rentals. The condo complex amenities include a community pool and club house. The homes sell for around $200,000. There are pet restrictions at this development and dogs are not allowed.
• Conklin Park Condos and Townhouses, which include 2 bedroom condos, and 2 bedroom multi-level townhomes. The complex was built in 1998. Selling around $200,000
• Hidden Ridge Condos, garden apartment style homes built in 2004. These newer condos are mostly 2 bedroom 2 bath units, selling in the low $200,000s.
• Sussex at Gramercy Condos, 1 or 2 bedroom condos on one floor. As of 2019, the condos for sale at Sussex at Gramercy are selling around $200,000. There are pet restrictions at this development and dogs are not allowed.
• Omni Park Condos, built in 1986 and 1987.  There are one level and two level condominiums and townhouses, ranges from 1049 square feet to 1749 square feet. Selling around $200,000. Community has a swimming pool and club house.

• Sussex at Bremmer Townhouses, built around 1985. As of 2019, the townhomes for sale at Sussex at Bremmer are selling around $200,000.  There are pet restrictions at this development and dogs are not allowed.
• The Hamlets, a popular and desirable development in Nanuet. The Hamlets community amenities include swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and more. Pets are allowed at the Hamlets, and the sales price ranges from the low $200,000s to $400,000. There are five communities within the Hamlets, including:
• Treetops, townhomes built in the late 1970s
• Knolls East, townhomes built in the late 1980s
• Timberline, mostly 1 bedroom townhomes built in the late 1980s
• Vista at Kings Gate, condos built in the late 1980s

• Versailles, newer townhomes in Nanuet built around 1999. It is located next to Amber Fields, and across the street from the Hamlets. The homes at Versailles in Nanuet are selling between $350,000 -$400,000.
