Pleasantville NY Real Estate

Pleasantville is a village inside the town of Mount Pleasant. Its name doesn't disappoint, and a walk down the tree-lined streets in the village is truly pleasant. 

One advantage of living in Pleasantville is that it is very walkable. There is a Metro-North train station downtown. On the streets surrounding the train station, there are several blocks of shopping and dining, most of which are local businesses. A few blocks up by Romer and Sunnyside Ave, you may see kids walking to and from the Pleasantville High School, Middle School, Elementary school, and the library, all of which are within three blocks of each order. 

The Pleasantville weekly farmers market, which runs even indoors in the winter, is a very popular event. There are no big box stores in the village, but if the local businesses does not have what you need, there are shopping centers in the nearby Thornwood.

Pleasantville is well known for the Jacob Burns Film Center. It shows documentaries and independent films, and attracts famous speakers like Woody Allen and Martin Scorcese to its events. Not only is the film center popular with locals, it attracts film buffs from around the region. Another popular event is the Pleasantville Music Festival that is held every summer. 

In total, the village has 4 parks and 10 acres of school sports fields. The Dad's Club of Pleasantville, a volunteer organization, organizes and runs the youth sports programs in the village. A community pool is available for residents to join in the summer.

Pleasantville Commute

The Metro-North station in Pleasantville is on the Harlem Line. If you take the express train, it takes 50 minutes to get to Grand Central Station in New York City.

The Saw Mill River Parkway runs pass Pleasantville, and driving to New York City takes 50 minutes, depending on traffic. For access to major shopping, White Plains is a 15 minute drive South.

Pleasantville Schools

Students in Pleasantville mostly attend the Pleasantville School District. Portions of the village belong to several other school districts, including: Briarcliff Manor, Byram Hills, Chappaqua, and Mount Pleasant School District.
