Nanuet is a hamlet located in Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York. It is a pleasant suburb that has good schools, convenient access to transportation, shopping and the outdoors. CNN Money ranked Nanuet 76 on its annual "100 Best Places to Live" list in 2011. Nanuet was also ranked 24th on CNN Money's annual "100 Best Places to Live" list in 2007.

Nanuet is the shopping and transportation hub of Rockland County. Major highways like I-87 and the Palisades Interstate Parkway have entrances throughout Nanuet, and the local Route 59 cuts through town, and most stores you ever need are along Route 59.

Most national chain stores and restaurants can be found along Route 59. The Shops at Nanuet is a recently updated outdoor shopping center.The Palisades Mall, one of the largest mall in the country, is in Nanuet. It has lots of shopping and dining options, a Dave and Busters, and a movie theater.

Nanuet is more than just shopping though. Nanuet Lake Park, with a pool that is designed to look like a lake, is a popular spot for the summer. The park offers picnicking, sports fields, and swimming. A short drive away is Bear Mountain and the Palisades Parks for those who want to spend day/days hiking and camping. The Hudson River is only 15 minutes drive away for those enjoy being on the water.

Nanuet Commute

New York City is only 30 miles away from Nanuet, with train and bus public transportation options available for commuting. The hamlet has very convenient access to the New York Thruway and Palisades Parkway. 

Nanuet is a great location for commuters. There are commuter train stations at Nanuet or Spring Valley. There are  Coach commuter bus which has routes to Port Authority and mid town Manhattan. Many condos and townhome communities in Nanuet allow residents to walk to the train station or commuter bus stop. Some developments are also walkable to the Shops at Nanuet and other stores.
