Some of the condo and townhouse communities in Somers include (sales prices are as of 2019 prices):
- The Willows - a townhouse community of 120 homes, built in the mid to late 1980s. The sales price in 2019 ranged from $315,000-$448,000
- Greenbriar - The development consists of 231 homes, which includes both townhouses and detached single family homes. Some built in the 1980s, and some built in the late 1990s to 2003. There are also a few new construction homes available as of 2019. The sales price in 2019 ranges from $425,000-$650,000
- Heritage Hills is a large, self contained condo village located on 1100 with 2600 homes. Residents at Heritage Hills has access to a 9-hole and 18-hole golf course, numerous clubs and organization with many events, several fitness centers and swimming pools, and more. The homes range from 1 to 3 bedroom homes, at prices from the mid $$245,000-$835,000 in 2019, and were built from the 1970s until 2003.
- Somers Crossing is a luxury new construction townhouse development of 66 homes. Building started in 2019, with sales price ranging from $789,000-$999,000
Living in Somers
The town of Somers offers a country lifestyle in Northern Westchester County, bordering Putnam County. The town is composed of several hamlets: Amawalk, Baldwin Place, Granite Springs, Lincolndale, Lake Purdys, and Shenorock.
Somers offers many outdoor recreational opportunities. The beautiful lakes and the Amawalk Reservoir for great views and fishing. The 82-acre Reis park is great for picnicking and has fields for soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and a skate park. The most beautiful however, would be the 234-acre Lasdon park, which is also an arboretum. It is stunning with its woods, meadows, and formal gardens, and hosts summer concerts for the town.
There are several local farms in the area. The most diverse one is Muscoot Farm, which is a 19th century farm that is open year-round and offer educational programs, tours, hiking trails, hayrides, and special events.
Somers commute
The major route from Somers to New York City is via Route 684 and the Taconic State Parkway, and takes about an hour. For more amenities outside of Somers, people may go to Yorktown to its West, White Plains by traveling South, or take a 30 minute drive to Danbury, CT via 84.
Commuters can take the Metro North Harlem Line to Manhattan. It takes about 65 minutes from stations in Katonah or Goldens Bridge, both of which are right outside of Somers.
